Becoming Comfortably Numb Continues to Bloom
Happy Spring! So much is happening!
Heart and Stroke
♥️In April, the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be running a social media campaign to increase awareness amongst women about their unique risks for heart attack and stroke. A whopping 89 percent of women have no idea what these specific risks are, since the majority of previous research has been conducted on men.
Men and women experience different symptoms of heart attack and stroke too, and women are more often misdiagnosed.
On April 11, the Foundation plans to feature my story in a mini-blog on Facebook and Instagram to highlight these issues. Keep an eye out for it!
In addition, I’m participating in Heart and Stroke’s 23 Kilometre Walk/Run Fundraiser on Facebook to Help Save More Women’s Lives from Heart Disease and Stroke. Until the end of April, you can find pics and descriptions of my daily joys, like discovering a sugar bush during a neighbourhood “Today’s Walk” for Heart and Stroke. ♥️
Fifty-Five Plus Lifestyle Show with the Bruyère Foundation_🎶🎻💃🕺
So excited to be collaborating with the Bruyère Foundation at the Fifty-Five-Plus Lifestyle Show April 4 and 5, from 10am to 4pm at the EY Centre in Ottawa! This popular event features an impressive lineup of exhibitors and experts ready to help you make the most of your future.
As a former recipient of Bruyère’s cutting-edge rehabilitation treatments that were instrumental in getting my life back — twice, we look forward to chatting with you about the ways Bruyère cares for our most vulnerable friends and loved ones, and my book will give both caregivers and patients hope and inspiration when handling life-changing illness and disability.
I’ll be taking some time off this spring to recharge, enjoy the outdoors and have fun with my family and friends before announcing more booksignings this summer.
🏃♀️🏃♂️Stay well, and keep movin’! 🏃🏃♀️
Best Always,
Cathy 😎
Admission is free, and there’ll be lots of entertainment, laughs, prizes and giveaways — with performances from Canadian comedy icon Ron James and live fiddling, amazing vocals and step-dancing from Ottawa’s own Kelli Trottier.
