Dear Friends,
With less than two weeks to go before my book signing at Indigo Innes on Saturday, February 22, from 12 to 3pm, there’s a buzz in the air.
The positive feedback I’ve been receiving from so many different sources since September 2024 just blows me away.
A reader who recently suffered a stroke was inspired to say this about Becoming Comfortably Numb: A Memoir on Brain-Mending:
“I wanted to tell you how much this book has done me good. First, it has encouraged me because your case was much worse than mine, and it gives me hope … I’ve only read about fifty pages, and I feel like I’m going to devour the rest.”
Also, the latest News and Updates from Bruyère Health Foundation has an item about their collaboration with me at my book launch on September 21, and included an Amazon link to purchase the book. What an honour!
It warms my heart to know that my story is starting to reach more and more health experts, as well as progressive business and community leaders who give so generously to Bruyère, ensuring it can continue to provide top-tier health care, innovative research and critical support to our most vulnerable.
In March 2025, the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be featuring me in a series of social media mini-blogs discussing women’s unique stroke risks.
Volunteering with Heart and Stroke has opened my eyes to some startling realities — women are more likely than men to have a stroke; yet 89 percent of us are not aware of our stroke risks as it relates to being female.
Becoming Comfortably Numb is helping empower its readers, particularly women, on their own recovery journeys. So fulfilling.
At my upcoming Indigo book signing, I will have more info to share from Heart and Stroke, including “F-A-S-T” bookmarks. These bookmarks provide life-saving tips for assessing the many different signs of stroke and heart attack and calling 9-1-1 immediately.
If you know someone who is struggling with their health, or needs to be bolstered, please consider visiting Indigo Innes (at Mèr-Blue/Innes Rd), on Saturday, February 22, from 12 pm to 3 pm to pick up a copy for them. The more copies sold, the more likely Indigo will keep the book in stock.
Also, on Saturday, March 8, my first out-of-town book signing will be happening in Smiths Falls at The Book’s Better, Settlers Ridge Mall, 275 Brockville St., from 12 to 3pm.
Best Always,
Cathy xo
